A hearing was held Tuesday in Richland County Juvenile Court to discuss last week's episode in which a father absconded with his daughter during a supervised visitation.

Judge Ron Spon concluded the 90-minute hearing by saying this was more the father's wrongdoing than the two women monitoring the visit.

Monty Bauch was on the witness stand describing his visit with his 5-year-old daughter.  He said he left with the girl when they were not being watched for a couple of minutes, because he felt he had the right to her custody since he had not received word Children Services had filed for an extension of its temporary custody.

Gina Bandy of Children Services says she stayed out of the gym at the Mansfield YMCA while Bauch and his daughter were playing, because Bauch becomes agitated with her.

That left Laurie Daugherty of Parent Aid to watch the pair.  She says she did but left them alone for a couple of minutes, then discovered they were gone.

Judge Spon concluded the two women did the best they could, but Bauch stepped out of line.  Spon also said supervised child visitations must be more closely monitored.

This case arises from a surveillance video of Monty Bauch having a dispute with a Children Services caseworker.

Judge Spon wants to see the video, but Children Services claims it was recorded over.

He intends to hold a contempt of court hearing, but the agency's attorney has filed a motion with the Ohio Supreme Court to have Spon removed from the case.
